FAQs

Can I send my resume in place of the application forms or 'previous employment' section?

Your application is much more than a résumé: it helps us thoroughly understand your specialties and skills so we can match you with the right assignment. Platinum Healthcare needs your application completely filled out, signed and returned to us to get the process underway.

Do I need to get a physical before I send in my application?

Only once you've accepted an assignment, our clients require a physical (within the past year) before you start.

What should I do with my reference letters? Do I send them or give them to my employer to send?

Your references are an important part of the assessment process and we need two current and good references to be eligible for travel assignments. You have three options:

  • Sign and return blank forms and authorize Platinum Healthcare to contact your references for your details as and when the assignment start date draws close.
  • Sign and send your reference letters to your employers, and ask them to return them to us via fax.
  • Send us a clear and legible copy of a recent performance evaluation in place of the reference.

Will you be contacting my current employer?

If you do not want us contacting your current employer for any reason, we strongly recommend that you make sure to send us a reminder on your application stating that you'd prefer we not contact your current employer at this time.

What if my employer won’t give me a reference?

We understand that some facilities will only give dates worked and if you’re eligible for re-hire and that is acceptable most of the times.

Do I need a license for each state I take an assignment in?

You need a license for every state in which you work (unless otherwise stated by the licensing body of your specialty). Just call the state's Board and request an application. Every state has different requirements and most states require a fee and verification. Some may send out home tests (AIDS) or require fingerprinting and criminal background checks. Platinum Healthcare will assist you along the way with licensure.

Who is responsible for getting my license?

We have a list of all state boards on our web site, and while Platinum Healthcare will assist you along the way, the final responsibility for obtaining the license rests with you.

Once I'm licensed to travel in one state, how long does it take to get licensed in the next state I’m traveling to?

It depends on the licensing regulations of each state. A license from a compact state will allow you to take assignments in all other compact states without having to get another license. Our website gives you expected processing times for each state which may vary.

How do I work out my taxes at the end of the year?

At the end of the year, Platinum Healthcare will send you a W-2 statement along with information on how to find a tax preparation expert to help you with your taxes.
